BMW is bringing a more spirited driving experience to the beloved 1 Series this autumn. That's right; the Bavarian automaker has just announced the 2013 135is. Note the "s" on the end.
While largely inspired by the 2012 BMW 135i currently available at BMW of Southampton, the new 135is is a breed of its own. Not only does it boast a whopping 320 hp and 317 lb.-ft. of torque. To accommodate such power - it's been re-engineered from the inside out.
Among some of the most impressive aesthetic upgrades are:
- 135is-Exclusive 18-inch wheels- Distinct, high-gloss black kidney grill
- Black mirror caps
- Special exterior badges
It almost sounds too good to be true, we know. But, it gets even better - all of this is in addition to ALL standard M Sport Package components… And, we assure you; it most certainly is a reality.
As far as performance is concerned, BMW has taken many liberties to amplify specific component so that they better match the 135is coupe and convertible's surge in hp. Among the most outstanding technical evolvements include:
- Double-helical, ball bearing differentials- Sport suspension
- Standard 6-Speed manual transmission or available 7-Speed Double Clutch
And, of course, just like all new BMWs, the forthcoming 2013 BMW 135i coupe and convertible will feature BMW's Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Traction Control functionality. It is, however, important to note that in the 135is, the driver has the option of completely disabling these features.
