What does an iPhone and a new BMW have in common? More than you might think. If you have noticed an increase in the number of white cars on the road around Southampton, if you have an iPhone, you need to only look at your cell phone to find out why.

Apple products have swayed popular opinion on color, and the good people at BMW have taken notice. Sandy McGill, chief designer for BMW DesignWorks attributes the rise in demand for white cars to Steve Jobs and Apple, who chose white as the color of the ever so popular iPod and iPad gadgets.

In an interview with Motoramic.com, McGill explained the new shift in the car industry around color, "Prior to Apple, white was associated with things like refrigerators or the tiles in your bathroom. Apple made white valuable."  1

Apples has succeeded in making white in-style, so it doesn't hurt that BMW vehicles look quite amazing in white, as they have for many years. Industry professionals point out that 80-percent of the general auto market today is made up of either white or silver vehicles.

But in life the only thing that is constant besides gravity is change. McGill and other BMW design experts foresee shades of blue, orange, and even brown making their way to the spotlight.
