Folks, we know we're a bit biased and all, but we here at BMW of Southampton can't help but be continually amazed by what the wizards in our parts department are capable of. Outside of asking them to turn your BMW X5 into a Batmobile, it seems like there's no limit to what this gang can do. But now that we've recently caught wind of some of the stuff that the design team at BMW has been cooking up, our customization kings have a new bar to reach for.
Not too long ago, a BMW fan wrote to the editorial staff at Jalopnik about his four-year-old son's wish to have his dream car made into a reality, so Jalopnik started making some calls. They put up a post on the website detailing the specs and dimensions of young Eli's car, took a stab at designing the car themselves, then asked their readers to take a shot at it as well. Next thing they knew, the reader submissions started pouring in, and it wasn't long before BMW gave it a go, too.
Named the 4219ELi (by Eli's father), some of the more attention-grabbing features of the car include:
- 42 wheels with 42-wheel drive
- 10 Porsche engines (despite being a BMW) that each get up to 459 horsepower
- Three seats and three steering wheels that can all drive the car simultaneously
- A trunk filled with toys that you can play in
Yes, it helps to see the rendered designs for yourself, and yes, it looks like something that Homer Simpson would come up with. But by the same token, we're awfully proud of our favorite automaker for rising to the occasion and doing their part to make a kid's dream come true.
Might be wishful thinking to expect the 4219ELi to roll into our dealership anytime soon, but don't let that stop you from doing it. Whether it's car service, financing, or just a good-old test drive in one of our new and used cars, feel free to come see us at 759 County Road 39A in Southampton, NY 11968-4122 and we'll get you set right up. No promises on the toy trunk though.
