As excited as we are that football is under way and hockey's around the corner, the off-season's always a bear to get through. Maybe that's why we're so fond of golf here at BMW of Southampton, a sport that's seemingly always on TV regardless of the time of year. Then again, it's probably not much of a surprise given our love for our favorite automaker.
In case you missed it, this year's BMW Championship brought in pro golfers from around the globe to compete at the Conway Farms Golf Club. In case you're unfamiliar, the tournament is also home to a very special competition that BMW has been holding for years now, a hole-in-one competition to be exact.
Now, anyone who's ever played 18 holes before knows that sinking a shot off the tee is no small feat. But for those who manage to do it off the 14th or 17th holes get to drive home in their very own BMW i3 and have a $100,000 four-year scholarship donated to the Evans Scholars Foundation.
So when five-time PGA Tour winner Hunter Mahan did just that on the 17th, the impact was felt instantaneously.
"Each year BMW's contribution to the Evans Scholars dramatically changes the course of these young lives," says John Kaczkowsi, President and CEO of the Western Golf Association. "We thank them for this additional commitment to the Evans Scholars Foundation and congratulate Hunter Mahan on today's hole-in-one."1
Needles to say, you missed a doozie if you didn't tune in. But if you'd like to feel like a winner without hitting the links, our lineup awaits you at our dealership here in Southampton, NY. They're one in a million.
