We're celebrating a big miles stone here at BMW of Southampton this month. September marks the 30th year of BMW M5 production, and the Bavarian automaker is celebrating in a bunch of different ways.
BMW designed a special anniversary edition of the M5, called the "30 Jahre M5", which literally translates from German to 30th year M5. This model is being hailed at the strongest M5 yet and to showcase this, BMW took it to the track for some drafting. Watch this fun feat in the video clip below.
Under the hood of this M5, a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine pumps out 600 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque which allows the model to travel from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds. With performance figures like this, it's no wonder that this special M5 is being called the most powerful to date.
While only 30 special edition models will be available in the U.S., we house many other powerful new BMW models in our Southampton, NY showroom. Visit us today for a test drive of one.
