With all this news of EV technologies inundating our blog these days, it's been a good long while since we here at BMW of Southampton had some new model news to send your way. It's too bad really, because few things in life get us more excited than the prospect of a new addition to our new and used car lineup. Last time, it was the BMW 4-Series Coupe. Now, it's the 2014 BMW X5.
To give you a base of comparison, the 2013 BMW X5 models at our dealership feature a host of attention-grabbing qualities. You've got a maximum interior cargo volume of 75 cu. ft., a towing capacity of 6,000 lbs. and a 3.0-liter I-6 engine that cranks out a whopping 300 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. Needless to say, it didn't take long to find its place in our showroom.
As for next year's model, the CUV seems to bear a healthy balance of old and new.
The biggest change in the 2014 BMW X5 is the presence of the X5 sDrive35i which makes it the first rear-wheel drive iteration of its kind. If you were hoping for all-wheel drive, don't you worry, that will also be an available option. From a stylistic standpoint, drivers will also notice some sleek revamping to the front and rear fascias.
As for what's the same, you've still got the 3.0-liter I-6 engine to get the job done right. And in case you were looking for a little more oomph, there will also be two engine upgrades for you to choose from.
We're still waiting to hear about when it will arrive at our dealership, but until then, feel free to tide yourself over with a test drive one the model-year beauties on our lot here in Southampton, NY. It won't be long before you're as excited as we are.
